Consecrating All We Hold Dear to Saint Michael, Patron Against Evil

(I have been running a consecration to Saint Michael on my Facebook page since August 15, the Assumption of Mary. It occurred to me I should post it here too. Feel free to join in or share on your favorite sites - it's never too late. The prayer itself is the same every day until it ends on September 29, the Feast of Archangels. But I like to write a meditation or words of encouragement at the top.)

Jesus, Healer of Mental and Emotional Suffering

For many, emotional suffering carries a stigma. Anxiety, fear, depression, grief, confusion, lack of attention, brain fog and other bad feelings are not often things people like to talk about. But I was noting, with the first sorrowful mystery of the rosary, that these were precisely the first sufferings of Jesus’ Passion.

Jesus suffered so much in mental anguish that he shed blood. It is a vindication to anyone who has suffered mentally or emotionally that the pain is very real and is not something that’s easy to just “get over.” He says, “Do not be afraid” because fear doesn’t come from Him. He says “Do not worry” because he wants to deliver us from worry. Our God is a God of order, not confusion. Yet, He suffered these in compassion for us. Whether you have suffered a season of emotional pain (as everyone does) or whether you struggle more regularly (with statistics showing this number to be very high), know that Jesus’ consent to suffer this way shows He has also conquered it. He desires your healing. His victory for you, on a day we don’t know, is, nevertheless, assured. Saint Michael, pray for us in our suffering as we wait for Jesus to wipe away every tear. We consecrate ourselves, our families, our nation and our Church. St. Michael’s Lent Traditional 40 Day Consecration Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from the Basilica Sanctuary of St. Michael in Gargano, Italy. Prayed daily from Aug.15 thru Sept.29 Oh, most noble Prince of the Angelic Hierarchies, valorous warrior of Almighty God, and zealous lover of His glory, terror of the rebellious angels, and love and delight of all the just, my beloved Archangel Saint Michael, desiring to be numbered among your devoted servants, I, today offer and consecrate myself to you, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under your most powerful protection. I entreat you not to look at how little I, as your servant have to offer, being only a wretched sinner, but to gaze, rather, with favorable eye at the heartfelt affection with which this offering is made, and remember that if from this day onward I am under your patronage, you must during all my life assist me, and procure for me the pardon of my many grievous offenses and sins, the grace to love with all my heart my God, my dear Savior Jesus, and my Sweet Mother Mary, and to obtain for me all the help necessary to arrive to my crown of glory. Defend me always from my spiritual enemies, particularly in the last moments of my life. Come then, oh Glorious Prince and succor me in my last struggle, and with your powerful weapon cast far from me into the infernal abysses that prevaricator and proud angel that one day you prostrated in the celestial battle. Accompany me then to the throne of God to sing with you, Archangel Saint Michael and all the angels, praise, honour and glory to the One who reigns for all eternity. Amen.
