Our Lady of Mount Carmel Novena: Day Nine

With tomorrow being the Memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, today is the last day of the Novena. Thank you for joining. Holy Mother appeared to Saint Simon Stock in the 1200s and promised to help those who trusted her in getting to Heaven. She offers the same protection and care she gave to the child Jesus. What a mystery that God’s Son should humble Himself to grow in age, maturity and favor (Luke 2:52)! Mary, having cared for Jesus, helps her adopted children to grow in mature faith so we can do whatever He tells us (John 2:5) in perfect trust and obedience. My life has changed a lot after I consecrated myself to her six years ago. Whether you make that consecration by the 800-year old devotion of the Brown Scapular, methods like the one from Saint Louis de Montfort and 30 Days to Morning Glory or something else, Mary will gladly adopt you with great love. I have found her to be the “woman of worth” from Proverbs 31. “She opens her mouth in wisdom; kindly instruction is on her tongue (verse 26).” She’s a good mom. I want to be just like her when I grow up. Proverbs 31:28-30 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband, too, praises her: “Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all.” Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Here is the last day of the Novena: O Most Holy Mother of Mount Carmel, when asked by a saint to grant privileges to the family of Carmel, you gave assurance of your Motherly love and help to those faithful to you and to your Son. Behold us, your children. We glory in wearing your holy habit, which makes us members of your family of Carmel, through which we shall have your powerful protection in life, at death and even after death. Look down with love, O Gate of Heaven, on all those now in their last agony! Look down graciously, O Virgin, Flower of Carmel, on all those in need of help! Look down mercifully, O Mother of our Savior, on all those who do not know that they are numbered among your children. Look down tenderly, O Queen of All Saints, on the poor souls! (Pause and mention petitions) Say: Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us.
